Mulled Wine Recipes To Spice Up Your Holiday Season
As winter settles in and the holiday season approaches, there's no better way to warm up and indulge in the festive spirit than with a steaming cup of mulled wine. This traditional beverage, infused with aromatic spices and rich flavours, has been a beloved staple of winter celebrations for centuries. But what if we told you that the essence of mulled wine could be captured in two extraordinary desserts that go beyond the traditional drink?

Mulled Wine Cake
Ingredients
For the cake:
Soft butter - 170 grams
Sugar - 230 grams
Vanilla Pod - ½ piece
Cinnamon - 2 teaspoons
Salt - 1 pinch
Eggs - 4 pieces
Melted Dark Chocolate - 100 grams
Sunflower Oil - 30 milliliter
Mulled Wine Reduction - 150 ml
Cocoa Powder - 50 grams
Flour - 180 grams
Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
For the glaze:
Powdered Sugar - 150 grams
Mulled Wine Reduction - 50ml
Method:
Mix the butter with the sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and salt in a mixing bowl until frothy. Then, gradually add the eggs while stirring constantly.
Add the melted chocolate to the bowl together with the oil and mulled wine reduction and stir until combined.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and grease a bundt pan.
Mix the dry ingredients, i.e., cocoa powder, flour and baking powder in a separate bowl and gradually add it to the mixing bowl with the rest of the ingredients.
Stir it into a smooth mixture.
Pour the mixture into the pan and then put it in the oven for 50 minutes. Once it's done, take it out and let it cool down. Turn the bundt pan upside down to gently remove the cake, and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
For the glaze, mix the powdered sugar with the mulled wine reduction and drizzle it over the cake.
Mulled Wine Ice-Cream
Ingredients
Red Wine - 1600 grams
Cinnamon - 4 pieces
Star Anise - 6 pieces
Clove - 6 pieces
Sliced Orange - 2 pieces
Sugar - 180 grams
Egg Yolk - 8 pieces
Cream - 700 grams
Method:
Combine and boil red wine, cinnamon, star anise, clove and sliced orange in a pan and reduce it to roughly 500 millilitres.
Combine the sugar and egg yolks in a bowl.
Add the boiling hot mulled wine reduction to the bowl while stirring constantly
Add the cream to the bowl and mix thoroughly with a hand blender
Use an ice cream maker to transform the mixture into gelato
Pour the mixture into containers and freeze. Enjoy as is or over your favourite slice of cake!
